Fighting Weeds

Root-spreading and perennial weeds are a serious challenge in mulch systems with reduced tillage. When the soil is warm and dry, tillage is less detrimental so we’re using these hot and sunny days to fight couch, dock, bindweed, yellowcress etc. After several passes (and possibly some manual collecting) these areas can go back into cover crop or vegetables over winter. In spring (when the soil is a lot wetter) we avoid cultivation and plant straight into the cover crop mulch. 🚜
