Cover Crop Update

·Look how much our buckwheat cover crop has grown. We sowed it on 16 Dec and will be able to plant lettuce here in two weeks’ time.
Buckwheat is quite drought-resilient and helps against summer weeds such as fat-hen and redroot (even though it does not suppress their growth, it develops very quickly and can use all the available resources for itself).
But most importantly, it binds a lot of phosphorus and calcium in its roots and makes those nutrients more available for the following crop.
