What is Rye Grain?  

The botanical name for rye is Secale cereale. Rye is also known as rye corn, cereal rye, winter rye, or rye berries. Our rye grain is grown in the South Island of NZ. Because it has had no chemical or heat treatment, it is good for sprouting. 

So is RYE Better for ME than Wheat?

Rye grain is similar to wheat, but it differs in some important ways.

• Rye is higher in fibre than wheat.
• Rye is packed with essential micronutrients, including B vitamins.
• Rye has a lower glycaemic index and is therefore better for Type 2 Diabetics than wheat.
• Rye is significantly lower in gluten than wheat, making it popular with those who are gluten sensitive or want to cut down on gluten.  
• It has a typically rye tasty flavour that many people love - have you tried it yet?
  

Please store all grain in a COOL place - preferably in fridge or freezer.
(This will prevent any possible weevil infestation!)
