Our New Field 🌱
·

·
As you may recall, we’re preparing a new field for this season. Over the last few weeks, we were hard at work terminating horse pasture - without ploughing or other forms of inversion tillage. We’ve been chipping the pasture and loosening the roots of buttercup and dock so they can dry out.
By avoiding heavy tillage, we’re protecting the soil’s structure and keeping its natural fungal and microbial life as much as possible, which means better water retention, stronger soil health, and long-term resilience.
We’re really looking forward to using that field soon. Our plan is to plant broccoli, along with summer cover crops. 🙂
